What you put into your body matters!

November 8, 2018

After reading, The Brain-Gut Connection at www.hopkinsmedicine.org, we felt compelled to share this article and discuss the importance in the research.

According to Jay Pasricha, M.D., “The enteric nervous system “gut’s brain” may trigger big emotional shifts experienced by people coping with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and functional bowel problems such as constipation, diarrhea, bloating, pain and stomach upset.”

Whoa! Re-read that last statement.

What you put into your body matters. Most, but not all gut concerns are a result of what we are eating.

This is something our Co-Owner and Licensed Professional Counselor, Tracy Cooper, knows all to well.

There were two pivotal times in her life that she experienced intense emotions—in high school and five years ago.

At the time, she was unaware that her intense emotions were related to her gut. What she did know is that she wanted to stop feeling tired, depressed, anxious, bloated and itchy from eczema.

She visited several doctors and had many tests run. All the results were the same—you may have this, but we are not sure. So, there she went with no real answers and new medication to take.

The medication exacerbated the problem. They were not making her feel better.

It took years for Tracy to figure out that her gut needed healing. She began to heal her gut with a Registered Dietitian, she started an elimination diet to remove all the foods causing inflammation, took a probiotic and ate clean daily.

Tracy can attest to the impact a healthy gut can have on your mind and body. Therefore, she continues to practice these healthy habits and recommends meeting with a professional to discuss your options if you are experiencing similar symptoms.

She believes so much in the importance of a healthy mind and body, that she and her husband created Fit Therapy of Texas. Fit Therapy of Texas focuses on the whole body. Here we teach you how to eat right, train properly and reduce your stress.
