Monica has worked in the field of mental health for over 19 years. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Art in Political Science & Psychology from Texas A & M University – Kingsville and Master’s of Science in Educational Science from Texas A & M University – Corpus Christi. Monica is currently finishing her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from St. Mary’s University – San Antonio.
Monica works with all ages, adults, adolescents and children, in individual, couples or family counseling. Adolescents are of special interest to me. She counsels from a Positive psychology, solution-focused perspective that addresses the needs & goals of the client with the primary focus of enhancing their life.
Monica approaches her work with creativity, compassion & commitment. She is optimistic, encouraging, & motivated to provide guidance & resources that empower you to hear and develop your voice & goals.
Monica works well with individuals, couples, and families trying to improve communication, parenting, trauma, anxiety, grief, depression, or transitions; and special interest working with teens struggling with self-esteem, establishing boundaries, substance abuse, self-harm, academic concerns, social anxiety, impulsivity, and college counseling.
When Monica is not working with clients, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, reading and working on her dissertation.
