Licensed Professional Counselor at Fit Therapy of Texas

Stephanie is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She received her bachelor’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University with a degree in Psychology and a concentration in counseling. Stephanie furthered her studies at St. Mary’s University where she received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Stephanie is currently pursuing her certification in becoming a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).
Stephanie is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor with a diverse background working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families while specializing in counseling approaches that are unique to each individual’s circumstance. These therapeutic modalities are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy also known as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Stephanie’s beliefs in psychotherapy are there is no right or wrong. What may work for some, may not work for others; that is the beauty and uniqueness of counseling. Stephanie continues to advocate and strive to be a counselor serving individuals and the community as a stimulus for problem resolution, a facilitator for change and to have individuals feel heard, respected and validated as they struggle through the obstacles that prevent them from pursuing goals, living a productive and fulfilled life in a nonjudgmental environment.
Stephanie has clinical professional experience working with inpatient and outpatient clients in acute hospitalization. She works collaboratively with psychiatrists, nurses, case managers, and fellow clinical mental health counselors to provide assessments, diagnoses, individual/family counseling, formulate treatment plans, assist in safe discharges, provide individual and group therapeutic intervention to increase coping skills and distress levels.
Stephanie has experience working within a private school system providing guidance and counseling support to adolescents and their families, as well as, collaborate with educators. Her goal is for all children to experience a positive, safe, and effective learning environment. When providing Tele-Mental Health counseling sessions with children and adolescents, she uses a Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy (CBPT) approach.
While living abroad Stephanie has had the opportunity to experience diverse cultures allowing her to be culturally sensitive. When Stephanie is not working with clients she aims to practice self-care by spending time with her family cooking together, organizing and decorating, going for walks with her dog, playing board games, dinner with friends, and when the opportunity presents itself hang out at the beach and sit by a nice wood burning fire.
