Traveling? Stick to your goals

Are you traveling for work or going on a vacation?

You work your butt off eating right and working out, so don’t let that all go to waste when you're traveling!

Stay on track and help yourself make better decisions while you are traveling with the following tips:

1.Do your research! Look up restaurants, where to exercise or whatever you need to help you feel like you are in control of your health while you are away! Make a list beforehand so you are not stressed out.

2. Pack your own snacks- it can not only save you money on your travel experience, but it can also keep you from eating the junk food that will be around you

3. Drink a lot of water - dehydration is common among air travelers and both worsens the physical symptoms of jet lag and weakens your immune system. Bring a reusable water bottle and then fill it up in the terminal once you're past TSA.

4. Get plenty of sleep- Sleep deprivation can make you falsely hungry. Your hunger hormone is elevated when you're tired. So make sure you are making time to sleep or otherwise your hunger hormones will go crazy and make you overeat which causes weight gain.

5. Always start your day with a good breakfast- Fuel up with a meal full of protein, carbohydrates, and fat. For example, eggs, oatmeal, Greek yogurt with fruit, or bread with peanut butter. The protein and fiber will keep you full for longer and stabilize your blood sugar and energy levels.

6. Stay active- not only is this a great way to get some exercise in, it’s a wonderful way to see a new city or country

7. Ask the hotel to empty your mini bar before you arrive- It will help get rid of that temptation and it will help save you some money. Also, you can use that extra fridge space to store your breakfast/ snack items.

8. Be Mindful- An upset stomach and low energy, no one wants this while traveling. Eating unhealthy foods may seem simpler, but you’ll have to deal with the side effects. Keep this in mind when deciding what you’re going to eat. Take time to enjoy your food, and you’re more likely to notice when you are full, allow for better digestion, and notice flavors you might have otherwise missed.
