SETTING YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS – WEIGHT LOSS STRATEGIES THAT WORK

You know you want to lose weight, but you’re not sure how to get started. A nutritional counseling session will provide you with proven strategies to aid you in your success. We’ll cover a variety of practical tips that you can start using right away. In addition, you’ll leave with a structured meal plan in hand to guide you on your way.

WHY DID I JUST EAT ALL THAT? Overcoming Emotional/Stress-related Eating

Do you tend to overindulge in “comfort foods” (or any food, really) only to ask yourself later, “Why did I just eat all that?” Do you struggle with your weight, knowing what you SHOULD be eating, but find yourself making less healthful choices for reasons that seem beyond your control? You’re not alone. If you’re like most people, you occasionally eat for reasons other than true hunger. It’s common to turn to food during exceptionally stressful or emotional times (dealing with relationship or employment issues, holiday eating, even when you’re bored). In this session you’ll learn how listen to your body’s cues so that you can distinguish between your physiological need for nourishment and your psychological desire to eat. You’ll learn how to healthfully satisfy common food cravings (Yes, there IS a low-fat/calorie answer to chocolate cravings!) With the strategies and tips you’ll get in this hour, you’ll be equipped to deal with stress and emotions in ways that don’t involve food, allowing you to reach your nutritional goals with confidence.

EAT OUT, EAT RIGHT!

Don’t let restaurant food sabotage your healthy eating efforts! Don’t fall victim to the 1,360 calorie “salad” – find out what restaurant in town serves this atrocity! Do you think a particularly popular soup/sandwich spot wants you know that the healthy-sounding “Sierra Turkey Sandwich” will run you 840 calories and 40g of fat? Learn more secrets like this with nutritional counseling. Tapas to Thai…sushi to sports bars…discover the details of your favorite menu items. Learn simple tips (and traps!) of menu reading as well as substitution requests you can make to keep your order (and waistline) in check.

BEWARE OF THE FAST FOOD SALAD – AND OTHER TIPS FOR EATING ON THE RUN

Our fast-paced society can make eating right tough! In this session you’ll learn exactly what healthy snacks you should keep on hand (and places you should stash them), to prevent unplanned trips to the drive through. We’ll provide a variety of ideas for quick and easy lunches you can bring from home – good for the waistline and the pocketbook! And if, by chance, you do find yourself in the fast food line, we’ll tell you exactly what you should order (and what to avoid!). Being in a rush will never be an excuse for poor eating habits again!

Eat like a King on the Budget of a Beggar

A limited budget doesn’t have to be a roadblock to a healthy diet. In this session you’ll learn how to stretch your food dollar through careful planning and smart shopping. We’ll take a virtual tour of the grocery store, pointing out foods that offer the best nutrition “bang for the buck” along the way.

FUEL YOURSELF – DON’T FOOL YOURSELF!

In this session you’ll learn different nutrition strategies for different workout-types and exercise goals. Whether you’re a weight training wizard or cardio junkie, you’ll discover how to optimize your workout results by knowing what, when, and how much to eat and drink. A little nutrition knowledge can go a long way when it comes to fueling an active lifestyle.

Train with Gains – Nutrition for endurance

Are you training for an endurance event? Half or full marathon? Triathlon? Gain a competitive edge with the power of nutrition. Learn which foods will fuel your training workouts the best, and just as important, how to refuel afterwards for optimal recovery. Discover the importance of carbs and fluid – an endurance athlete’s friends…and learn how to calculate your individual needs during training and on event day. A “countdown to event day” guide will be presented with clear strategies of what to eat and when as your event approaches. You’ll see that eating right can maximize your training and race day results!

EATING TO BOOST IMMUNITY

No one has time to be laid up in bed with a cold or the flu. Scientists are uncovering interesting information about the connection between what we eat and proper immune function. Schedule a nutritional counseling session to learn which nutrients are being studied for their immune-enhancing effects and how to include these in your nutrition plan. You may just find yourself in the supermarket aisles this cold/flu season instead of the pharmacy!
